MHC-LP
Alyssa (she/her) is a Limited Permit Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) at Awaken Wellness, with a master’s degree from Queens College. Her path into this work began after more than a decade in high-pressure corporate environments, where she experienced the toll of chronic stress and burnout. Through her own time in therapy, she found a way to slow down, better understand herself, and work through the impact of past experiences. That shift stayed with her, deepening her passion for sharing this work with others and ultimately leading her to change careers.
Alyssa has experience working with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, complex trauma, ADHD, identity exploration, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She takes an integrative, client-centered approach that is gender-affirming and culturally responsive, tailoring sessions to each person’s needs, goals, and pace. Drawing from cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, ACT, and DBT frameworks, along with mindfulness and somatic practices, her style is warm, collaborative, and grounded. She helps clients build insight, notice patterns, and find ways to feel more balanced in daily life, while also holding space to work through unresolved wounds shaped by earlier experiences.
In her free time, Alyssa enjoys reading, yoga, arts and crafts, and hiking. She’s a proud auntie and cat mom, a former competitive dancer, and an animal lover who thinks every stray cat wants to come home with her (spoiler alert: they don’t).
